Before installing any connector it is recommended that you read the Connectors Overview page. All connectors follow common instructions for installation. The following information is specific to this connector.
The Rockwell connector communicates locally to the Historian server over OPC HDA. As such, it requires that the OPC Classic .NET Redistributables are installed. Download and extract the zip file on the computer hosting the ThinkIQ Connector. These files can be extracted into the Documents folder for convenience
There are two options when installing the Rockwell Historian connector: it can be installed locally, on the machine where the Historian sever is located, or remotely, on a different machine. In either case, the machine must be running Windows - this is a Historian restriction.
- Local Installation (Rockwell Historian Server and ThinkIQ gateway/connector on same machine)
- The machine must have outbound connectivity as described here
- This is the simplest installation
- Remote Installation (separate machine for ThinkIQ gateway and connector)
- The Pi SDK must be installed on this machine
- When the SDK is installed you must elect the OPC HDA option: this is not installed by default
- The machine must have outbound connectivity as described here
- The machine must have internal access to the Rockwell Historian Server
- you will need to know the Historian Server machine IP or Name
- The Pi SDK must be installed on this machine
