ThinkIQ Glossary of Terms

The period during which a manufacturing plant cleans equipment. Typically executed for one day per week and during which plant manufacturing activities are paused.

These types define characteristics and behavior of data from specific component parts that compose other equipment.

User defined value which remains constant until the user specifically changes it. For example, a Geo Location on a Place is a config value and remains constant until changed.

Connectors run on-premise and collect data from a variety of sources such as Process Historians, Controllers, Smart Devices and databases.  Connectors pass the data they collect to a Gateway.

A content management system (CMS) is software used to manage the creation and modification of digital content.

An application that provides a scatter chart of two time-dependent process variables. This application addresses the issue of time delay (one process occuring after the other) by providing an offset feature.

a computer program that runs as a background process, rather than being under the direct control of an interactive user. 

Location where data being used originates from. In ThinkIQ there are three data sources: Dynamic, Config, and Expression.

The method of data storage in the platform. The methods are 'Static' and Time-Series'. Static data is not expected to change frequently, or at all. An example of static data is a geo-location. Updates to static data are recorded in the Audit Log. Time-series data can change very frequently and is stored in the platform time-series store - a specialized historian for platform data. An example of time-series data is a temperature reading on a machine, the capture of video images, or the opening of a purchase or sales order that is fulfilled at a later date.

Classification indicating how values are stored and represented, The system data types are boolean, datetime, enumeration, float, geopoint, interger, interval, event object, string.
